Dow Increases 1st-Quarter Sales 28%

Dow Chemical Co. has reported first-quarter net sales of US$15.3 billion, an increase of 28% year over year.

Dow credited the gains to healthy end-market demand and top- and bottom-line growth across all its operating segments. Sales in the company’s packaging and specialty plastics segment increased 25% from the previous year to $7.6 billion, its industrial intermediates and infrastructure segment also increased sales 25% to $4.5 billion, and its performance materials and coatings division experienced a 44% jump to $3 billion.
