March 3, 2022 Essential Facilities Stay Clean With GBAC® STAR Accreditation

Kingston City Hall in Kingston, Ontario and Fleet Landing in Atlantic Beach, Fla. are the latest facilities to achieve GBAC® STAR Facility Accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC), a Division of ISSA. From government buildings to retirement communities, GBAC® STAR validates infection prevention procedures in the most critical facilities.

“Government and senior living facilities are two of the most vital places for preventing pathogen spread,” said Patricia Olinger, GBAC Executive Director. “Kingston City Hall and Fleet Landing have demonstrated their commitments to keeping essential services running during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Kingston’s City Hall is a nationally-designated historic site and the administrative center of the city. Inside, it hosts the city council and nearly 40 government departments that work to meet the needs of residents and visitors and achieve the goal of becoming the most sustainable city in Canada.

“Our city hall welcomes thousands of city residents, business representatives, and visitors each year,” said Pierre Bartkowiak, Facilities Supervisor, City of Kingston. “Achieving this accreditation helps us maintain a clean facility to protect both our government workers and citizens and keep essential functions running.”

Founded in 1985, Fleet Landing is a nonprofit continuing care retirement community located in the Jacksonville, Fla. area. The community offers independent and supported living options, various health services, multiple dining choices, and wellness-based amenities including a spa, pools, fitness studios, and tennis courts.

“At Fleet Landing, we are focused on continually improving our campus, programs, and amenities for our residents,” said Joshua Ashby, CEO, Fleet Landing. “GBAC® STAR was a natural fit for us to achieve third-party verification of our infectious disease prevention efforts and continue providing the best in health and wellness-focused living.”
