Federal Grant Helps DuPage County Inmates Clean Up With CMIJune 15, 2021
The DuPage County Sheriff’s Department recently received a grant from the Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
The county will use a portion of the federal funds to expand its highly successful customized cleaning certification course to inmates of the DuPage County Jail in Wheaton, Illinois, The Daily Herald reports. The course, presented by ISSA’s Cleaning Management Institute (CMI), teaches inmates specialized cleaning procedures through hands-on cleaning demonstrations. At the conclusion of the workshop, each participant successfully achieves CMI certification. Since the start of the program a few years ago, 88 inmates have successfully completed the CMI certification program. The increased funding will allow for prison officials to triple participation in the program from 40 inmates per year to nearly 120 participants.
