Global Biorisk Advisory Council™ (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, Senior Director Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner recently shared his concerns about a Florida outbreak of a rare but very dangerous flesh-eating bacteria specifically affecting those cleaning up following Hurricane Ian.

As of October 24, the bacteria, scientifically known as vibrio vulnificus, had caused 64 infections, including 13 deaths in Florida, according to the state’s department of health. That compares with 34 cases and 10 deaths reported during all of 2021.
