GBAC® STAR Accreditation Helps College Football National Championship Shine

January 7, 2021 GBAC® STAR Accreditation Helps College Football National Championship Shine

Nearly 16,000 fans will be able to attend Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship at Hard Rock Stadium thanks in part to the facility achieving GBAC® STAR Facility Accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC), a Division of ISSA.

Even though the country is still battling the COVID-19 pandemic, the 65,000-seat Miami, Florida, stadium has been cleared to operate at 20% capacity. The facility, which is also home to the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, was an early adopter of GBAC® STAR, achieving accreditation in July 2020. Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium Vice Chairman and CEO Tom Garfinkel credits the program with helping the stadium minimize risk associated with infectious agents, including COVID-19, for employees, guests, the community, and the environment.

“We’re proud to be the first facility to receive the GBAC-STAR rating and believe it makes us safer and gives our employees and customers more confidence,” said Garfinkel in an interview with ISSA Today.

Tune into this recent Straight Talk! video for more from GBAC’s Steve Arehart and Patty Olinger on how Hard Rock Stadium has worked to provide Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes fans with a safe and enjoyable experience this Monday night.
