David R. Povlitz, founder and chairman of Anago Cleaning Systems, passed away February 7, 2023.

Povlitz was born September 3, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967, serving as a radio operator and achieving the rank of sergeant. Following an honorable discharge, Povlitz enrolled at Michigan State University, where he graduated in 1972 with a degree in hotel and restaurant administration.

A driven entrepreneur, Povlitz relocated to South Florida following graduation. There he founded Anago in 1989, working door-to-door to garner contracts. In the early days of the company, Povlitz often got involved with the cleaning services, personally vacuuming floors and cleaning toilets. Under his guidance, Anago has grown to support more than 45 master franchises and 1,700 unit franchisees across the globe.
