January 31, 2022 Industry Loses Sodexo Founder

Pierre Bellon, founder and chairman emeritus of Sodexo, passed away January 31, 2022. He was 92 years old.

Bellon was born January 24, 1930, in Marseille, France. After graduating from French business school HEC, he began his career in his father’s maritime supply company in Marseilles. He later transitioned to corporate catering and meal delivery, founding Sodexo in 1966. He guided the company for nearly four decades, retiring as CEO of Sodexo in 2005. Bellon continued to serve as chairman of the company’s board of directors until 2016, when he was succeeded by his daughter, Sophie Bellon. He is survived by his wife, four children, and thirteen grandchildren.
