ISSA Announces 2022 Outstanding Government Service Award Winners

April 1, 2022 ISSA Announces 2022 Outstanding Government Service Award Winners

ISSA is proud to announce the recipients of the 2022 ISSA Outstanding Government Service Awards presented in conjunction with the association’s Clean Advocacy Summit. The award recipients were selected by ISSA with input from its Government Affairs Advisory Committee.

The recipients of this year’s awards are U.S. Representatives Stephanie Murphy (D-FL-07) and Tom Rice (R-SC-07).
br /> “ISSA recognizes Representative Murphy for her pivotal role in helping the entire cleaning supply chain throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, including her steadfast support for free trade, tariff relief, and small businesses,” said ISSA Director of Government Affairs John Nothdurft. “We thank Representative Murphy for her leadership as a cosponsor of the bipartisan Employee Retention Tax Credit Reinstatement Act (H.R. 6161), Healthy Workplaces Act (H.R. 1944), and Clean Start: Back to Work Tax Credit Act (H.R. 883).”

“ISSA selected Representative Rice as an award recipient this year because his commonsense healthy workplace proposal would help businesses provide a safe and sanitary environment for their workers and customers, as well as give Americans the confidence and peace of mind to safely get back to work and revitalize our economy,” Nothdurft continued. Representative Rice introduced the Healthy Workplaces Act in the House of Representatives in March 2021.

“ISSA thanks Representatives Murphy and Rice for their extraordinary support of small businesses, as well as for their leadership in sponsoring healthy and safe workplace tax credits,” said ISSA Executive Director John Barrett. “On behalf of the more than 10,500 ISSA members, we congratulate them on their well-deserved awards.”

“I was honored to receive the Legislator of the Year Award from the ISSA Clean Advocacy Summit today,” said Representative Rice. “The COVID-19 pandemic shed light on the importance of the cleaning industry, and I was proud to work with ISSA last year on the Healthy Workplace Act. Thank you, ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry, for your support and keeping America healthy!”

The 2022 ISSA Outstanding Government Service Awards were presented as part of the association’s Clean Advocacy Summit that took place in Washington, D.C., March 30-31, as part of National Cleaning Week.
