White House Wants Federal Workers to Stop Working Remotely
U.S. President Joe Biden recently called for federal employees to return to work onsite. In an email sent earlier this month, White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients asked federal employees to begin working in their offices full time beginning this fall, stating that “it is critical to the well-being of our teams and will enable us to deliver better results for the American people,” Axios reported. “ISSA applauds the Biden administration’s public efforts to bring federal workers back to the office this fall. While hybrid and remote work is here to stay, there are many benefits to the economy and the workplace by encouraging workers back to the office,” said ISSA Director of Government Affairs John Nothdurft. Learn more

IRS Cracks Down on ERC Fraud
The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is stepping up efforts to identify fraud related to the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERC) authorized during the pandemic. In this JD Supra analysis, Julie Bradlow and Michael Raposa of the DarrowEverett law firm examine the implications, noting that “The IRS takes the position that the ERC is not available for employers who were not subject to a government-imposed shutdown order due to COVID-19, but merely faced supply chain disruptions.” Learn more
