NYUL Study Confirms Efficacy of EvaClean Disinfectant

August 4, 2022

A recent New York University Langone Health (NYUL) study has confirmed the efficacy of EarthSafe Chemical Alternatives’ EvaClean PurTabs NaDCC disinfectant for controlling Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) and Candida aruis (C. auris).

Over the course of an 18-month period, researchers at NYUL assessed the adequacy of surface disinfection in reducing contamination across the total of more than 1,800 beds at two NYUL hospitals. The study examined three sporicidal chemical disinfectants—electrolyzed water (EW), peracetic acid/hydrogen peroxide (PAA/H2O2), and sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC), EvaClean’s PurTabs disinfectant. Researchers determined NaDCC produced significantly lower colony counts compared to PAA/H2O2 and EW. When applied with a microfiber cloth and mop plus an electrostatic sprayer, NaDCC was found to be the most effective method of disinfection.

NYUL plans to publish a follow-up peer-reviewed paper discussing the study’s clinical results, including reductions in C. diff and C. auris in 2023. The medical group will also begin rolling out EvaClean’s disinfecting program to its 539 locations throughout New York, New Jersey, and Florida.
