OSHA Preps for Safe + Sound Week

August 1, 2023

The U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is encouraging employers to observe Safe + Sound Week, August 7–13, to recognize the successes of workplace safety and health programs.

Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event that recognizes the successes of workplace safety and health programs and offers information on how to keep America’s workers safe. Last year, more than 3,300 businesses across the country participated in raising awareness about workers’ safety and health.

“We want businesses to have a system, not just good intentions, and make safety a core value for every worker in every workplace,” said Doug Parker, OSHA assistant secretary. “During this week and throughout the year, we urge every employer to commit to implementing a program that drives continuous improvement in safety and health.”

This year’s program will focus on employee well-being, by offering resources that can help alleviate workplace stress and support mental health. Employers can visit OSHA’s Safe + Sound website to sign up for the program and check out the listed activities, graphics, and other resources available to help them protect workers. When organizations have completed their events, they can download a certificate and a virtual challenge coin to demonstrate their commitment to workplace safety.
