January 6, 2023 Sodexo Locks Up Contract With British Prison

Sodexo has been awarded a US$314.5 million contract with the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Justice.

The 10-year deal calls for Sodexo to oversee operations at HMP Altcourse in Liverpool England. The company will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the 1,100-inmate correctional facility, Facilities Management Journal reports. Sodexo is currently contracted by the Ministry of Justice to manage five prisons across the United Kingdom.

“The award of HMP Altcourse reinforces our significant track record in the management of prisons and our commitment to provide secure and safe environments, which supports the reduction of reoffending,” said Paul Anstey, CEO of Sodexo’s government division in the U.K. and Ireland. “We are delighted to have won the HMP Altcourse contract and will use our expertise and experience to work with the existing team there to build on what has already been achieved.”
