Sofidel Commits to Net Zero Emissions by 2050

January 15, 2024 Sofidel Commits to Net Zero Emissions by 2050

Sofidel has announced a commitment to reaching full-scope net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

According to a press release, Sofidel will work with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to lower the company’s greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible across its entire supply chain. Sofidel has set a goal of a 40% reduction in scope 1 and 2 by 2030 compared to the 2018 base year, and a 24% reduction in scope 3 emissions.

“Sofidel is still accelerating its decarbonization journey. Net Zero is a commitment to our planet, a fundamental goal for a company like ours engaged in a highly energy-intensive industry. It is not an easy challenge, but it is a necessary one, following on from and consistent with the huge amount of work we have already done,” said Riccardo Balducci, Sofidel sustainability director.
