UMF Seeks Top Hygiene Specialist

UMF Corp. is now accepting nominations for its Hygiene Specialist® Excellence Award.

Now in its 14th year, UMF’s annual award highlights the contributions of environmental services (EVS) departments in reducing preventable health care-associated infections (pHAIs). EVS managers are encouraged to nominate deserving staff members. The award recipient will receive an all-expenses paid trip for two, including airfare, to anywhere in the 48 states.

“In the United States, infections acquired in health care facilities kill more than 75,000 people every year,” said George Clarke, UMF CEO. “During the past several years, EVS teams have faced more challenging patient care, staffing shortages, new safety protocol training, burnout, and a lack of recognition as frontline staff who play a critical role in support of first responders. While we established our National Hygiene Specialist Excellence Award more than a decade ago, it has never been more important to acknowledge and celebrate these workers who serve as a first line of defense in preventing the spread of pHAIs.”
