ISSA strongly believes that if electronic commerce and online activities are to flourish, consumers must be assured that information provided online is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect online privacy, ISSA has implemented the following policy.
Information Collected by ISSA
Most data ISSA collects are used only to help the association improve its website and otherwise better serve our members. It is our general policy to collect and store only personal information that our members and visitors knowingly provide. If our privacy policies change, we will notify all users by e-mail or a special announcement placed on the Web site.
From General Users. ISSA does not collect any personal information from users browsing its Web site. Users of the public areas of the Web site are accessed and browsed anonymously. Only aggregate data—such as the number of hits per page—are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.
From ISSA Members, Conference Registrants, and Other Customers. To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on the ISSA Web site, members and other users are asked to register and provide some limited information. This information is submitted voluntarily. ISSA asks users to provide their name, member number (for members), company name, job title, business e-mail address, city/state/country, and preferred language. Similar information may be submitted to ISSA through membership applications, conference or seminar registration, publication orders, subscriptions, and contest registrations. ISSA may use such information to provide members and other users with access to personalized features of the Web site, and to generally promote the association's services, products and programs. Information provided by convention registrants may also be provided to exhibitors, but such information is not sold or distributed in any other manner.
ISSA's Use of Data Collected
ISSA uses information voluntarily submitted by members and other customers in the following ways:
ISSA Member Services and Products. Generally, ISSA uses the information collected to improve its own Web content; to respond to visitors' interests, needs and preferences; and to develop new products and services.
Disclosures to Third Parties. ISSA also makes member contact information available to other association members through the ISSA Membership Directory, available electronically at www.issa.com or in hard copy format. Other than providing such information to association members, information that ISSA collects from individuals using ISSA's website is maintained for the sole use of ISSA and for the purposes described above, and is not provided, sold, or otherwise shared with any third party for any reason except as herein stated.
Credit Card Account Information. ISSA does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members and customers choose to pay by using a credit card, ISSA submits the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate clearinghouse. ISSA does not maintain credit card information on file.
When a user registers, the system will automatically set a cookie. Registration and acceptance of the cookie enables the ISSA Web site to better determine members' interest areas and provide the most relevant information. Acceptance of the cookie is essential to the use and navigation of the ISSA Web site
However, your cookie may be declined or modified by appropriately adjusting your Internet browser. Please note if the user declines the attachment of a cookie, the use of the ISSA website will be limited.
