Our spotless space is the Speedway Sports Complex in Lincoln, Nebraska! This versatile sports facility is open for practices and free play during the day and hosts tournaments on the weekends. We take great pride in managing the cleaning of the entire facility, from bleachers and restrooms to concessions and courts.

What specific measures do you or your team implement to ensure this space meets the highest standards of cleanliness and embodies the value of clean?

Each night, we perform a comprehensive cleaning of the building, which includes restrooms/locker rooms, entries, offices, viewing mezzanines, and courts. The courts undergo multiple rounds of cleaning, such as trash removal, dust mopping, gum/candy scraping, and wet mopping. We also designate specific days for deeper cleaning tasks that go beyond the regular nightly routine, like cleaning the bleachers, machine-scrubbing the courts, and squeegeeing the basketball hoop backboards. Additionally, each team has a “lead” who conducts a final walkthrough before leaving, inspecting all areas—from dispensers and trash to floors.

How does cleaning this space contribute to the health and safety of those who use it?

The tournaments hosted at the sports complex cater to a wide range of athletes, from young, aspiring basketball players to seasoned pickleball enthusiasts. Many spectators come to support their family members and friends, which means we’re constantly moving throughout the building, disinfecting touchpoints from top to bottom. We have a day porter position dedicated to restocking dispensers, emptying sanitary waste and trash cans, and cleaning up any messes in restrooms or on courts. Additionally, our quick-turn team comes in after tournaments to quickly restore the building to top condition before volleyball players arrive for practice.

What does having a spotless space mean to you and your team?

It means a great deal to our team to maintain a spotless space that we take pride in. Recently, we were thrilled to hear that a frequent visitor of the Speedway Sports Complex prefers using our facility over others in the area, specifically because of its cleanliness and our attention to detail. It was truly eye-opening to realize that our efforts in keeping the building in top shape are noticed and appreciated by those who use it.
