- Dade Launches HyProtection
February 4, 2010 — DadePaper has launched HyProtection Zone, a program aimed toward improving housekeeping and hygiene management in long-term care facilities. HyProtection Zone focuses on certain key cleaning practices and occupant behaviors that have an impact on the prevention of health care acquired illnesses (HAIs). Additional benefits for the facility include increased patient satisfaction, risk management, cost control, and meeting green building goals.
The process begins with an interview of the facility’s management to determine their concerns, challenges, and goals. A site inspection follows, with particular attention paid to products and procedures. The inspection also includes black light surface testing—or APT—which measures bioluminescence, or the presence of microorganisms that can transmit disease. With the information from the initial visit gathered, the DadePaper health care specialist makes product and procedural recommendations to meet the facility’s needs and help them to improve their level of cleanliness and infection control.
Areas addressed in the recommendation include hand hygiene, high-touch surface disinfecting, restroom cleaning, floor cleaning and other areas of concern such as cost control and green cleaning. A training session on proper cleaning procedures is performed using the recommended products and the site survey is repeated. Follow-up visits are scheduled and the surface testing continues to ensure that the improved processes are being followed and that the facility is better protecting its patients, staff, and visitors from HAIs along with meeting their other housekeeping goals.
