- HFI Partners With Green Ribbon Schools
April 23, 2012 — The Healthy Facilities Institute (HFI) has partnered with the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools (GRS) initiative.
Under the terms of the agreement, both HFI and GRS will cross-promote programs in an effort to educate students, teachers, parents, and school staff in healthy practices. The partnership specifically will focus on drawing attention to GRS’s Healthivores initiative and the HFI-related Process Cleaning for Healthy Schools program.
HFI strives to provide authoritative information for creating and maintaining clean, healthy indoor environments. HFI works to address the many interrelated aspects of built environments—air, water, energy, materials and resources, green cleaning, indoor environmental quality, waste management, people and more—as an integrated or holistic system. Inasmuch as “clean” is a metaphor for healthy indoor spaces, HFI also emphasizes prevention and removal of pollutants or contaminants to help ensure optimum conditions for living, learning, and working.
