UNITED for Impact

As the cleaning and facility solutions industry prepares for one of its most important spring seasons yet, momentum is building around two flagship ISSA events that underscore the value of cleanliness and the power of a unified industry voice.

International Cleaning Week (ICW), March 22–28, 2026, and the 2026 ISSA Clean Advocacy Summit, March 23–24, in Washington, D.C., together form a weeklong celebration of recognition, learning, and legislative action—bringing together professionals from all parts of the industry for a common purpose.

A week honoring the cleaning industry

International Cleaning Week provides a global opportunity to honor front-line cleaning professionals and raise public awareness about the cleaning industry’s crucial role in protecting health, safety, and economic productivity.

During this dedicated week, ISSA encourages organizations worldwide to highlight the importance of clean practices, support local and state initiatives, issue proclamations recognizing the industry, and engage communities with stories of impact and innovation. ICW acknowledges the efforts of men and women whose daily work creates healthier environments for workers, families, students, patients, and the public, recognizing their contributions and the often-unseen work that keeps facilities operating safely and efficiently.

Advocacy in action

Within this broader celebration, the 2026 ISSA Clean Advocacy Summit stands out as the highlight of International Cleaning Week. It brings together more than 140 industry leaders at Capitol Hill and the Royal Sonesta Washington, D.C., for two days of strategic engagement and action. This premier fly-in event offers a unique opportunity for manufacturers, distributors, contractors, service providers, and allied associations to unite and shape public policy to influence the industry for years to come.

Co-hosted with a coalition of associations—including Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI), the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA), Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification (IICRC), the International Franchise Association (IFA), New England Sanitary Supply Association (NESSA), Pacific Association of Building Service Contractors (PABSCO), The Alliance for Expanding America’s Workforce (AEAW), and Restoration Industry Association (RIA)—the 2026 Summit amplifies the industry’s collective voice on key issues such as labor shortages, supply chain resilience, workforce development, healthy workplace initiatives, ending period poverty, and regulatory challenges affecting every part of the cleaning ecosystem.

“The 2026 summit is a unique opportunity for the cleaning and facility solutions industry to build on our legislative successes in 2025,” said John Nothdurft, ISSA director of government affairs. “Bringing together many influential associations gives the industry a stronger voice and more influence on key policy issues being debated on Capitol Hill that will affect the industry for years to come.”

Attendees begin the Summit with briefings on public policy issues shaping business worldwide, including labor trends, tariff effects, workforce development, and new regulations. Expert training teaches participants how to be effective advocates, while organized networking connects professionals from different fields and business types.

The second day shifts from learning to action. Advocates head to Capitol Hill to meet with congressional delegations, sharing firsthand industry insights directly with policymakers.

Recognition of advocacy

A highlight of this year’s programming is the ICW Awards Dinner, an inaugural event recognizing outstanding advocates, policymakers, spotless facilities, and rising leaders who exemplify excellence in the industry.

With each Clean Advocacy Summit registration—including a ticket to this dinner—the event is not just about policy; it’s a chance to celebrate achievements, build camaraderie, and spotlight contributions that elevate the entire sector.

International Cleaning Week and the Clean Advocacy Summit together highlight the powerful connection between industry pride and strategic engagement. ICW raises public awareness and honors essential workers, while the Summit empowers professionals to shape policy within their businesses and communities. Participating in both provides organizations with a dual platform—to celebrate their work and influence how it is done in an increasingly complex legislative and economic environment.

Whether you’re a front-line technician, a C-suite executive, or an emerging leader, International Cleaning Week and the ISSA Clean Advocacy Summit offer a chance to be part of something bigger than any individual company or job role—a call to help shape the story of why cleanliness matters and how the industry can create a healthier, more sustainable world.
