3M Launches App to Combat Counterfeit PPE

3M has released the new 3M™ Verify app to help companies ensure their personal protective equipment (PPE) is authentic.

According to a press release, the app helps validate a 3M disposable respirator’s carton in real time by identifying a bar code and determining if a product package is genuine. If the results are found to be inconclusive, the package is either not recognized by the app or is a potential counterfeit. The app then provides instructions on how to contact 3M for further investigation into the potentially counterfeit PPE.

“If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is,” said Cassie Jacobson, 3M personal safety division director. “The 3M Verify app will enable customers to be confident their disposable respirators are genuine and working to keep them safe and protected.”
