ISSA Reveals Inaugural Outstanding Government Service Award Winners

March 30, 2021 ISSA Reveals Inaugural Outstanding Government Service Award Winners

ISSA is proud to announce the recipients of the first ISSA Outstanding Government Service Awards presented in conjunction with the association’s Clean Advocacy Summit. The award recipients were selected by ISSA with input from its Government Affairs Advisory Committee.

The recipients of this new award are U.S. Representative Darin LaHood (IL-18-R) and U.S. Senator Kyrsten Sinema (AZ-D).

“Representative LaHood is being recognized for his unwavering support of the cleaning industry and of a healthy and safe workplace tax credit and being a leader on free trade issues. He was one of the first Congressmen to try and tackle the unplanned financial costs associated with workplace safety costs,” said ISSA Director of Government Affairs John Nothdurft. On March 17, 2021, Representative LaHood introduced a resolution (H. Res. 248) recognizing March 28, 2021 through April 3, 2021 as National Cleaning Week.

“Senator Sinema was selected as an award recipient for her crucial assistance in spearheading a healthy and safe tax credit, including sponsoring the bipartisan Healthy Workplaces Act (S. 537) in the U.S. Senate. This tax credit would help offset some of the costs of protecting workers and the public for COVID-19 and other illnesses.”

“We thank Representative LaHood and Senator Sinema for their extraordinary support of small businesses, as well as for their leadership in sponsoring healthy and safe workplace tax credits. On behalf of more than 10,500 ISSA members, we congratulate them on their well-deserved awards,” said ISSA Executive Director John H. Barrett.

The 2021 ISSA Outstanding Government Service Awards are being presented as part of the association’s virtual Clean Advocacy Summit taking place during National Cleaning Week.
