Georgia-Pacific Recognized by EPA for Energy Efficiency
May 19, 2022Georgia-Pacific LLC, parent company of GP PRO, announced its Port Hudson paper mill in Zachary, Louisiana, has been recognized as an Energy Star Facility by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The EPA honored the Port Hudson plant as an Energy Star Challenge Achiever for Industry for reducing its energy by 18.5% in the last five years. The Louisiana facility is the fifth Georgia-Pacific location to earn such designation; its Brewton, Alabama, production facility achieved the accreditation earlier this year.
In addition, the EPA also designated Georgia-Pacific’s parent organization, Koch Industries, an EPA Energy Star Partner of the Year for the second consecutive year.
“This work is about more than just earning an award – it demonstrates the mutual benefit that can be achieved when the private industry works collaboratively with the EPA to meet very challenging criteria to improve the environment and the local community and better serve our customers,” said Traylor Champion, Georgia-Pacific senior vice president-environmental affairs.
