Who Can Help My Organization Prepare For Certification?
Achieving CIMS certification is not an easy task. Fortunately, there is a group of individuals who are uniquely positioned to help! CIMS "ISSA Certification Experts" (I.C.E.) are ready to provide training and consulting services to cleaning organizations interested in complying with and preparing to be certified to the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS). To become a CIMS ISSA Certification Expert, an individual is required to attend a one-day workshop and pass an examination regarding the management elements contained in CIMS.
More than 1,000 cleaning industry professionals have now been certified as CIMS ISSA Certification Experts! Click here for a complete list of certified individuals who are ready to help your organization achieve certification today.
Why Should I Become a CIMS ISSA Certification Expert?
Training to become an ISSA Certification Expert positions an individual as an indispensable resource during tough times. As one's customers or own organizations face budget cuts, professionals need real-life solutions to help them deal with the new challenges. The good news? The I.C.E. program can help!
- Custodial operations around the country must reduce labor budgets by 5-10 percent—reductions that cannot be accomplished by supply price decreases alone.
- Operational and budgetary knowledge is necessary for one to position themselves as an indispensable resource in these harsh economic times.
- The need to evaluate, reduce and redeploy the workforce is the only way to meet impending budget reductions and an industry professional can help their customers or their own organization do so by training to be a CIMS “ISSA Certification Expert.”
Ultimately, becoming an I.C.E.-certified professional arms you with information about the critical factors that you can use to help your customers or your own organization meet demands from the highest management levels. In fact, past attendees have saved customers or their own organization more than six figures annually by helping them comply with CIMS and achieve certification to the Standard.

How Do I Renew My I.C.E. Certification? I.C.E. certification is valid for two years. To renew certification, an I.C.E.-certified professional is required to accumulate a total of 30 professional credits during the re-certification cycle. Professional credits are accumulated by participating in various cleaning industry activities, including by attending an I.C.E. Re-Certification Workshop*, attending an ISSA/INTERCLEAN tradeshow, ISSA regional meeting or other educational workshop, purchasing education and training materials, writing articles for industry publications, and more. The fee for each two-year I.C.E. re-certification period is based on the number of I.C.E. certified professionals employed by or otherwise affiliated with an organization. A complete list of applicable I.C.E. re-certification fees is available by clicking here (PDF). Re-certification is also good for two years. Click here (PDF) to review the official I.C.E. Re-Certification Policy and full list of activities that qualify for professional credit.
* Those I.C.E. professionals who attend an I.C.E. Re-Certification Workshop and those who receive the "Green Cleaning Professional Designation" by graduating from ISSA's Green Cleaning University will receive all 30 required professional credits (Note: Individuals have to attend the re-certification workshop or achieve the green cleaning professional designation to receive all 30 credits).
The next I.C.E. Re-Certification Workshop will be held in conjunction with ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America 2012 in Chicago! Specifically, the session, titled "How to Sell With I.C.E.," will be held on Tuesday, October 16 from 8:30-12:00. Please check back this summer for a registration form.
