Sweden Facing Toilet Paper Shortage

April 12, 2012 — Sweden could be facing a toilet paper and paper towel shortage due to a labor disagreement, reports The Local.

The Pappers labor union has threatened to block paper goods from leaving factories in the Swedish cities of Lilla Edet, Marestad, Pauliström, and Nyboholm starting April 23. The proposed blockade would serve as a show of support for the Commercial Employees’ Union in its ongoing wage negotiations with the Svensk Handel retail employers association. The retail employees’ union recently voted to strike on April 13 if a new agreement is not reached.
