Cintas Teams With Redaptive to Cut Energy Consumption

April 24, 2023 Cintas Teams With Redaptive to Cut Energy Consumption

Cintas Corp. has announced a multi-year partnership with energy-as-a-service provider Redaptive.

The agreement is designed to reduce energy use at Cintas facilities as part of the company’s goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The initial phase of the project centered on Redaptive installing LED lighting at more than 100 of Cintas’ oldest, largest and most energy-intensive facilities across the United States and Canada. More than 42,000 incandescent and fluorescent lighting fixtures have been swapped out since the project was launched, and the energy savings generated by the LEDs represent more than 7,050 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions averted annually.

The second phase of the project calls for Redaptive and Cintas to explore the benefits of solar technology. Installation has begun of a solar-powered energy system at Cintas’ rental location in Piscataway, New Jersey. The project is expected to be fully operational in the next few months. Once online and connected to the energy grid, the system will allow Cintas to evaluate its year-round performance and compare the costs of solar with other traditional utility-based energy sources.
