Clorox Nears Renewable Energy Goal

November 14, 2019

The Clorox Co., parent company of Clorox Professional Products Co., has signed a 12-year, 70-megawatt virtual power purchase agreement for the purchase of renewable energy from Enel Green Power North America.

The deal, which goes into effect in 2021, represents nearly 50% of Clorox’s previously stated goal of establishing 100% renewable electricity for its operations in the United States and Canada by 2024. Financial terms of the agreement were not announced.

“Climate change and rising greenhouse gas emissions pose a real threat to the health of our planet and ultimately the long-term well-being of people globally,” said Benno Dorer, Clorox CEO. “That’s why we’ve taken action for more than 10 years to measure and reduce the carbon footprint of our operations. Our agreement with Enel helps to expand U.S. renewable energy infrastructure, reflecting our view that companies like Clorox play an important role in addressing global climate change.”
