Diversey Collaborates on Sustainable Sanitation Solutions for South Africa

Diversey has teamed with Dow and Pebbles Project to launch the Soap For HopeTM program in Cape Town, South Africa.
Established by Diversey in 2013, the Soap For Hope initiative provides opportunities for underprivileged communities to earn a livelihood by recycling waste soap from hotels into new soap bars, which are distributed to those living in unsanitary conditions at risk of life-threatening infections. Diversey will leverage Dow’s technology to work with South African nonprofit Pebbles Project to distribute soap to those in need in Cape Town.
“Soap For Hope is a program that directly engages the local people in helping their own community. At the same time, it helps our hotel customers with diverting tons of solid soap waste from the local landfill. This will contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment in South Africa and create shared value for everyone involved—our company, our customers, and our communities,” said Mariette Van Vuuren, Diversey sales director for South Africa.
