Ecolab Increases 2nd-Quarter Sales 8%

Ecolab Inc. has reported second-quarter net sales of US$3.85 billion, an increase of 8% from $3.58 billion a year ago.

Ecolab’s second-quarter operating income increased to $484.7 million, up 14% from $425.8 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Sales in the company’s global institutional and specialty division jumped 13% to $1.26 billion, while its global industrial division boosted sales 9% to $1.79 billion. Ecolab’s global healthcare and life sciences division saw sales rise 1% to $387.5 million.

“The second quarter was one of great momentum for Ecolab, reflecting the strategic decisions made over the past few years and the fundamental work done over the last several quarters. Our team’s strong execution resulted in continued robust organic sales growth, operating income margin expansion, and 13% growth in adjusted diluted earnings per share,” said Christophe Beck, Ecolab chairman and CEO.
