Georgia-Pacific Adds Wildlife Conservation Area to Albany Facility

August 17, 2023

Georgia-Pacific LLC, parent company of GP PRO, has announced the establishment of a new wildlife conservation area at its Albany, New York, lumber plant.

The 320,000-square-foot facility opened in 2020 and is part of a sprawling 225-acre site, WALB-TV reports. The 38-acre wildlife conservation area surrounds the mill and includes more than two dozen bluebird nesting boxes. Georgia-Pacific has also planted 36 acres of loblolly pines and an additional two acres of native Georgia wildflowers and pollinator plants.

“We firmly believe in our duty to be good stewards of the land entrusted to us, and this commitment led us to create a wildlife sanctuary and invest in the preservation of biodiversity through the establishment of a wildlife conservation area,” said Keith Carroll, Georgia-Pacific Wood Products LLC environmental manager.
