Industry Loses FBG Service Founder

Wayne Simmonds, founder of FBG Service Corp., passed away June 17, 2019. He was 80 years old.
Simmonds was born March 26, 1939, in Omaha, Neb. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Simmonds returned to Omaha and began his career in the cleaning industry as a salesman for Dust-Tex. In 1968, Simmonds became the sole owner of Floor Brite Inc., which eventually became FBG Service Corp. in 1982 after a series of acquisitions. Under his leadership, FBG Service grew into a 100% employee-owned company employing more than 1,300 workers. He served as CEO of FBG Service until February of this year, at which point he was appointed chairman emeritus.
