ISSA Supports Essential Workers for Economic Advancement Act
ISSA is pleased to share that on May 25 U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA-11) introduced the Essential Workers for Economic Advancement Act (HR 3734). The legislation is similar to the bills that Rep. Smucker introduced in the previous two Congresses that would create a year-round, non-seasonal temporary worker program. Learn more and take action

EPA Completes Scientific Testing of Pesticide Products for PFAS 
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is taking another step in addressing concerns that per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been found in pesticide products by releasing a summary of the laboratory analysis of 10 pesticide products reported to contain PFAS residues. EPA did not find any PFAS in the tested pesticide products, differing from the results of a published study in the Journal of Hazardous Materials. Learn more

Dollar General Hit by DOL Fines Again
Over the span of two weeks, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) issued announcements regarding safety violations at 18 stores operated by Dollar General Corp. and its subsidiary Dolgencorp LLC across eight separate states, with its latest concerning two Dollar General locations in Alabama and one in Florida, Cleaning & Maintenance Management reported. Learn more

Vessel Buildup Grows at West Coast Ports
There have been delays in processing vessels at terminals within the Port of Los Angeles and Long Beach, according to CNBC. The U.S. Department of Transportation and Biden Administration are said to be closely watching the developments at the West Coast ports as trade groups warn of economic damage and urge the Biden administration to step in. Paid Family, Medical Leave Signed into Law in MN
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed a bill creating state-paid family and medical leave into law, CBS News reported. Learn more
