Kimberly-Clark Opens New Wind Farm

September 11, 2023

Kimberly-Clark Corp., parent company of Kimberly-Clark Professional, recently announced the opening of an on-shore wind farm in South Lanarkshire, Scotland.

The US$93 million facility, which is operated by Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust, will generate approximately 160,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy per year. Kimberly-Clark has set a goal to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions in the United Kingdom by 85% from a 2015 baseline by 2026 and will transition to 100% renewables by 2030, edie reports.

“Energy transformation is a key priority for us if we are going to deliver on our ambition to be using 100% renewable energy by 2030 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. When people ask what ‘fully decarbonizing our operations’ looks like in practice, showing them a brand new 12-turbine wind farm is a pretty powerful answer,” said Dan Howell, Kimberly-Clark UK & Ireland managing director.
