Salmonella Scare Sparks Spinach Recall

August 14, 2019

Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc. has issued a voluntary recall for more a limited number of cases of its pre-packaged baby spinach.

Dole issued the recall after a random inspection by the Department of Agriculture in Michigan revealed traces of the bacteria. The potentially infected bags of spinach were shipped to distributors and retailers in 10 states, Fox News reports.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is monitoring the situation to determine the source of the salmonella. So far, no reports of illness have been linked to the spinach.
