UMF Names Top Hygiene Specialist

Stacey Turner has been named the recipient of UMF Corp.’s Hygiene Specialist® Excellence Award.

Now in its 14th year, UMF’s annual award highlights the contributions of environmental services (EVS) departments in reducing preventable health care-associated infections (pHAIs). EVS managers are encouraged to nominate deserving staff members. Turner, a hygiene specialist at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana, was recognized for her exemplary work as team lead of the hospital’s EVS department. As the winner of this year’s award, Turner will receive an all-expenses paid trip for two, including airfare, to a location of her choice within the 48 contiguous states.

“We established the National Hygiene Specialists Award 14 years ago to celebrate the hygiene specialists who serve on the front lines in preventing the spread of pHAIs,” said George Clarke, UMF CEO. “As healthcare workers contend with staffing shortages, new safety protocol training, burnout, and a lack of recognition, it has never been more important to acknowledge and reward individuals such as Stacey for their contributions. They are essential to processing patient and common areas, which is critical in the fight against pHAIs.”
